About

Kavin Phinichkusolchit grew up in Japan, where he first encountered specialty coffee. He returned to Bangkok and opened a five-storey shophouse on Ekkamai with cousins Namdev and Ravi Sachathep. A Probatone 5 roasts Thai single origins from Pha Tang and Pangkhon in Chiang Rai, including the experimental award-winning Hey 19 from Chiang Mai for espresso.

All operations are 100% plastic-free, from takeaway cups to straws. The Singapore outpost opened in Joo Chiat as a hole-in-the-wall behind Crane Living.

Roasting

Micro-roastery focusing on light and medium roast single-origin beans. Roasting decisions informed by regular cupping sessions with systematic evaluation of aroma, body, mouthfeel, and taste. Emphasis on allowing beans to express their inherent characteristics at maximum potential
